Mission and Benefits
The Asian
Study Programmes are designed
to procure international and intercultural competence and related soft
skills for students and young university staff, with a focus on the
Southeast Asian region. Furthermore the Asian Study Programmes aim to
strengthen your academic profile and to provide a unique access to the
respective country. That is why the classes cover historical, social,
political, cultural and economic issues. The courses include final
exams and are credited at Austrian universities.
Besides lectures from prominent Asian academics, you have the chance
to meet government officials and top representatives from the business
communities. Due to the strong contribution of our partners in
Southeast Asia, the summer schools have become to a once-in-a- lifetime
opportunity for young people interested in discovering the uniqueness
of
the Southeast Asian region.

Dr. Johannes Hahn,
Former Austrian Federal Minister for Science and Research
Studies
abroad do not only give access to new
knowledge, but also provide a good opportunity to interact with other
cultures and living styles and to establish contacts for the future
life. Until the year 2020 fifty percent of all university graduates
should have performed at least one stay abroad for study, research or
training purposes. Short and well-structured programmes like those
provided by ASEA-UNINET often serve as initialisation of a series of
longer stays abroad or as basis for a more intensive interaction with
the culture of the host country. Thus they will also provide new
chances and opportunities in a continuously internationalising job
market.

Prof. Dr. Karl-Heinz
Töchterle, Rector of the
University of Innsbruck
As Rector
of the University of Innsbruck I recommend participation in the Asian
Study Programmes as a unique opportunity to combine an
interdisciplinary academic programme offered by distinguished teachers
from ASEA-UNINET member institutions in Asia and Europe with the
enriching experience of discovering Indonesia, the Philippines,
Thailand or Vietnam.

Mag. Markus Beyrer,
Director General, Federation of Austrian Industries
Asia is one of the future regions for economic growth and despite
recent troubles remains a focus point for Austrian industry. Therefore
the Federation of Austrian Industry highly appreciates any initiative
encouraging young high potentials to spend a study period there. |
