Welcome
to the Asian Study Programmes
The
extraordinary economic
growth
of the
Southeast Asian countries, in combination with their fascinating natural,
cultural and historical heritage, has placed them among the most
attractive regions in the world.
The Asian
Study Programmes
(ASP)
are summer
schools organised by ASEA-UNINET Austria to give European students and
young academic staff a unique chance to discover the variety of
Southeast Asia’s culture, history, politics and
economy.
The ASPs take place alternately in Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand
and Vietnam. During the four-week programmes you will attend classes
held by prominent Asian lecturers, meet government officials and top
representatives from the business community. Additionally the summer
schools include intercultural group works- and field trips to cultural
sites and companies. Based on
ASEA-UNINET’s unique
connections with the partner countries, the summer schools offer you an
exclusive and widely acknowledged curriculum. This not only gives you
ECTS points from Austrian universities but furthermore a competitive advantage
in the job market. The first Asian Study Programme
was
organised in Thailand in 1995 - as one of the first Asian summer schools
in all of Europe. Since then three more programme evolved
- and
more than several hundred students and young academic staff have
taken
part successfully.
